My Travel in Color is a free hobby site. Use it at your own risk. This page explains what we store and what we do not.
This site is operated as a hobby. For questions or concerns, use Feedback on the site.
We do not require an email login. A map uses a name and a password you choose.
Map content you add can include places, years, routes, notes, and shapes. Every map is public. Anyone can view a map. The password is required to edit it.
An IP address counts as personal data. Cloudflare provides the visitor IP address, browser type, and time. We use the IP address to run the site, to limit repeated tries, to count separate reports, and to apply an allowed list. We do not sell IP addresses or use them for advertising.
Start Coloring lets you color states, counties, and countries before you create a map. That trial stays in this browser. It is not saved on our servers, it has no password, and it is not given a public link. If you leave or clear site data, the trial can be lost. Create Your Map copies the colors onto a map you name. Only then is it stored on our servers.
You might see maps with photos on them. Those are admin maps at the moment. Visitors cannot upload photos. If you have any issue with an admin photo, enter it in Feedback or report the map.
We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell your data.
The site also uses your browser’s local storage and session storage to keep your maps, settings, and whether you unlocked a map on this device. Cloudflare may set a small security cookie as part of hosting. That is not used to track you across other websites.
You can clear site data in your browser settings. That will remove maps stored only on that device. Maps stay on the server until they are deleted by the user or admin.
Streets loads tiles from the public OpenStreetMap tile server. Dark, Light, and Satellite load tiles from Esri. The map shows the required credit in the corner. Those requests come from the visitor’s browser. Build Route sends start and end coordinates to the public OpenStreetMap routing service (OSRM) so a driving line can be drawn. Authenticator QR codes are drawn in the browser. The secret is not sent to a QR image service.
The site is not directed at children under 13. You must be 13 or older to create a map. Do not create a map with a child’s personal information.
We do not sell personal information. We use Cloudflare to host the site and store maps. Every map is public. Anyone with the link can open it.
Place search runs on this site. It does not send your search to a geocoding service. Use current location uses your browser’s location permission. If you allow it, the coordinates are saved as a pin on that map. Anyone can see that pin. Do not use it for a home or other place you want kept private.
Feedback, advertise requests, and reports store the message you type, the map name if you include one, and the time. Those messages are stored on our server and may also be sent to a Google Sheet and to xAI Grok so they can be reviewed. We do not email them.
The site is free to use today. We do not use advertising cookies now. If advertising or ad tracking is added later, this policy will change first and the site will ask for consent before that tracking starts.
We do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals because the site does not track you across other websites. Policy changes are posted on this page. The date at the top changes when the policy changes.
Users, including California visitors, can use Feedback to ask what information we have about a map name or to ask us to delete a map. Feedback is the contact method. There is no separate email address.
You can always download a backup of your map after you create it and anytime you edit it.
Maps stay until you delete them, the admin deletes them, or the site is shut down. Every map is public and stays so other visitors can see it. We may hide or delete a map that is illegal, hateful, NSFW, abusive, or too large. A deleted map may not be recoverable.
Anyone can report a map. A report can include the map name and a short reason. We use that to decide whether to delete the map. The admin may also hide a map to control abuse. A hidden map cannot be viewed until the admin clears it. We do not promise to share the reporter’s identity with the map owner.
Export a backup from the map tools if you want your own copy. Delete a map with the map password. Report a map from the site menu.
We may update this policy. Changes are posted here with a new date. We will ask for consent before adding any ad tracking. After you add or change map data, export a backup so you keep your own copy.
